Your battery rebate

How the rebate works for 24kWh

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program pays through certificates (STCs). The full rate applies to the first 14kWh, 60% to 14–28kWh and 15% to 28–50kWh.

Installed before 31 Dec 2026≈ 136 STCs
Installed Jan–Jun 2027≈ 114 STCs
Difference≈ 22 fewer (−16%)

Estimate based on nominal capacity. The exact number depends on the battery's usable capacity on the approved product list and your install date. Your installer applies the rebate and shows it on your quote.

Why book now

The battery rebate drops on 1 January 2027

The rebate is based on the date your battery is installed. On 1 January its factor drops from 6.8 to 5.7, about 16% less. Installers get busy in December, so book early.

Is this the final price?

$7,999 is the partner installer's price for a standard installation at an eligible Victorian home, after the federal rebate and solar certificates. They confirm your final price in a written quote after checking your home. Extras such as switchboard upgrades or difficult access may cost more.

Who installs it?

An approved partner installer. Vic Energy Deals is an independent referral service: we pass your enquiry to the installer offering this deal, and your quote, contract, installation and warranty are with them.

How fast can it be installed?

It depends on the installer's schedule and your home. They'll give you install dates with your quote. To get today's rebate rate, the battery must be installed before 1 January 2027.

Will it work during a blackout?

Only if your system is set up for backup power. Many hybrid systems can be, but it depends on the inverter and your switchboard. Ask the installer to include backup in your quote if you want it.

Can I charge the battery without solar?

Many hybrid systems can charge from the grid during cheap off-peak hours, which can still save money on time-of-use plans. Ask your installer whether it suits your plan.

What warranty do I get?

The products come with the manufacturer's warranty, and the installer provides a workmanship warranty. The exact terms are listed in your written quote.

I rent. Can I still enquire?

Yes, but you'll need the owner's permission before anything is installed.

Is there any obligation?

No. The quote is free, and you only go ahead if you're happy with it.
